Rabiah ibn Mudhar was a Jewish king of Himayar, in what is now Yemen. He was overthrown in the early 6th century by king Kaleb of Axum, and forced to flee.

Ayoob Tarish Absi is a famous Yemeni singer and melodist from the area of Al-Aboos in the Ta'izz Governorate. Tarish composed United Republic, the national anthem of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen and the Republic of Yemen following the Yemenite reunification.

Abdul Majeed al-Zindani is a leading militant Islamist, founder and head of the Iman University in Yemen, head of the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood political movement and founder of the Commission on Scientific Signs in the Quran and Sunnah, based in Saudi Arabia.

Arwa bint Asma was the long-reigning ruler of Yemen, firstly as the co-ruler of her first two husbands and then as sole ruler, from 1067 until her death in 1138.
