Wasfi Tal was a Jordanian politician, statesman and general. He served as Prime Minister of Jordan for three separate terms, 1962–63, 1965–67 and 1970 until his assassination in 1971. Tal was born in Irbid to prominent poet Mustafa Wahbi Tal.
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, born Ahmad Fadeel al-Nazal al-Khalayleh, was a Jordanian jihadist who ran a paramilitary training camp in Afghanistan.
Mustafa Wahbi Tal, was a Jordanian poet, lawyer and judge. Born in Irbid, Tal was imprisoned and exiled several times by the Ottoman Empire for his political activism. He found employment as a teacher in Al-Karak, until he was appointed governor of the Shoubak/Wadi Musa region in 1929.
