Faisal al-Fayez was the Prime Minister of Jordan from 25 October 2003 to 6 March 2005. He took office following the resignation of Ali Abu al-Ragheb. He resigned after being criticized for not being reformist enough.

Wasfi Tal was a Jordanian politician, statesman and general. He served as Prime Minister of Jordan for three separate terms, 1962–63, 1965–67 and 1970 until his assassination in 1971. Tal was born in Irbid to prominent poet Mustafa Wahbi Tal.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, born Ahmad Fadeel al-Nazal al-Khalayleh, was a Jordanian jihadist who ran a paramilitary training camp in Afghanistan.

Mustafa Wahbi Tal, was a Jordanian poet, lawyer and judge. Born in Irbid, Tal was imprisoned and exiled several times by the Ottoman Empire for his political activism. He found employment as a teacher in Al-Karak, until he was appointed governor of the Shoubak/Wadi Musa region in 1929.
