Agnes Robertson Arber FRS (23 February 1879 – 22 March 1960) was a British plant morphologist and anatomist, historian of botany and philosopher of biology. She was born in London but lived most of her life in Cambridge, including the last 51 years of her life. She was the first woman botanist to be elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society (21 March 1946, at the age of 67) and the third woman overall. She was the first woman to receive the Gold Medal of the Linnean Society of London (24 May 1948, at the age of 69) for her contributions to botanical science.
Her scientific research focused on the monocotyledon group of flowering plants. She also contributed to development of morphological studies in botany during the early part of the 20th century. Her later work concentrated on the topic of philosophy in botany, particularly on the nature of biological research.

Giovanni Arcangeli (18 July 1840 – 16 July 1921) was an Italian botanist from Florence.
In 1862 he earned his degree in natural sciences from the University of Pisa, where he later became an instructor and professor. In 1880 he was a professor of botany at the University of Turin, and in 1882 was appointed director of the Botanical Garden of Pisa.
In 1882 Arcangeli published his best-known work, a highly regarded compendium of Italian flora titled Compendio della flora italiana. The plant genus Arcangelisia from the family Menispermaceae is named in his honor.

David Hungerford Ashton OAM (6 July 1927 – 22 November 2005) was an Australian botanist and ecologist. He was the world expert on Eucalyptus regnans forests, claimed to be the most important timber species in Australia.

Anna Atkins (née Children; 16 March 1799 – 9 June 1871) was an English botanist and photographer. She is often considered the first person to publish a book illustrated with photographic images. Some sources claim that she was the first woman to create a photograph.
