Brian Wellman is a former triple jumper from Bermuda, who became indoor world champion in 1995, setting a new championship record of 17.72. His personal best outdoors was 17.62 metres. Both these marks are Bermudian records. In addition, he has a wind-assisted mark of 17.75 metres.
Brian Burland was a Bermudian writer, who was the author of nine acclaimed novels that typically dealt with colonialism, family strife and race. He was also a published poet. Burland was the first Bermudian novelist to receive international acclaim.
Dame Lois Marie Browne-Evans DBE JP (1 June 1927 – 29 May 2007) was a lawyer and political figure in Bermuda. She led the Progressive Labour Party (PLP) in opposition before being appointed Bermuda's first female Attorney-General. She first gained recognition in 1953 as Bermuda's first female barrister. Browne-Evans died of a suspected stroke on 29 May 2007, three days before her 80th birthday.
